If you've owned property in the city of Dallas, TX for very long, you know that ever-increasing property tax bills can sting you every April.
The Dallas and Collin county assessors are tasked with assessing the values of 225,000 parcels each and every year. When they estimate too high, you end up over-paying on your property tax bill.
Fortunately, you have the opportunity to protest for a reduction when this happens. By presenting a case with market data to support a reduction, thousands of owners in Dallas are able to save $100's or even $1000's off their bill each year.
But protesting can be an overwhelming and time-consuming annual process, even if you have access to the required county and MLS sales data, which most do not.
TaxDrop makes is effortless, fast, and we only have a fee if you save - if you don't save, our service is completely free.

Your Dallas tax bill is several separate taxes added together. Each taxing unit sets its own 2025 rate per $100 of taxable value. For a home in Dallas ISD:
Total of the units listed: $2.226710 per $100 (about 2.23% of taxable value), before exemptions. Rates are for the Dallas County side; homes on the Collin or Denton County side pay those counties' rates. Some neighborhoods also pay a MUD or PID.
Homestead exemption: Texas school districts must exempt $140,000 of a homestead's value, plus another $60,000 for owners 65 or older or disabled (Texas Comptroller). At Dallas ISD's rate, the $140,000 exemption takes about $1,391 a year off the school portion. Homestead appraisal increases are capped at 10% a year, plus new improvements.
Dallas spans more than one county, and your appraisal district depends on the county your home is in, not your mailing address. Your Notice of Appraised Value names the district.
