Williamson County mailed most 2026 property tax statements the week of Oct. 19, but about 130,000 bills in five school districts wait for Nov. 3 tax rate election results. Here's when taxes are due and what to do.

Williamson County began mailing 2026 property tax statements the week of Oct. 19, 2026. If your home is in Coupland, Florence, Georgetown, Leander or Round Rock ISD, your statement is on hold until the Nov. 3 tax rate election results are final. That affects about 130,000 properties, according to Tax Assessor-Collector Catherine Totty. Taxes are due when you receive the statement, and the county lists Feb. 1, 2027 as the delinquency date.
The Williamson County Tax Office says five school districts adopted tax rates that must be approved by voters on Nov. 3: Coupland ISD, Florence ISD, Georgetown ISD, Leander ISD and Round Rock ISD. The county can't print a final bill until it knows which rate applies, so statements for about 130,000 properties in those districts will be mailed after the election results are finalized.
If you live outside those five districts and still don't have a statement, you can look up your property and print a statement on the Tax Office website. Not getting a bill doesn't change the due date or any penalty and interest under Texas Tax Code §31.01(g).
Taxes are due on receipt and become delinquent on Feb. 1, 2027, according to the county. The Tax Office's property tax page asks owners to pay in full by Sunday, Jan. 31, 2027, and says penalty and interest of 7% are added on Monday, Feb. 1, 2027. Texas generally moves a deadline that falls on a weekend to the next business day (Tax Code §1.06), but the safest plan is to pay by Jan. 31.
A voter-approval tax rate election (VATRE) decides whether the district keeps the rate its board adopted or falls back to a lower rate. Leander ISD is one example. According to Leander ISD, if Proposition A passes the total rate is $1.1169 per $100 of value, and the average homeowner, with a taxable value of $460,292, would have an estimated district tax bill of $5,141, about $27.56 more than last year. If it fails, the rate is $1.0869. Each district's notice lists its own numbers, so check the district's website for yours.
Homeowners 65 and older or disabled who have a school tax ceiling won't pay more than their ceiling amount for school taxes either way, unless they've made improvements to the home.
If your lender pays your taxes from escrow, the Texas Comptroller notes that the bill goes to your mortgage company. You can still review your statement online. Check that your homestead and any over-65 or disability exemptions show correctly, because those affect what your lender pays and your escrow next year.
Voters and taxing units set rates, but the value on your bill comes from the Williamson Central Appraisal District (WCAD), and you can protest that value every year.
