Argyle homes are among the most valuable in Denton County. The Census puts the town's median home value at $695,300, and its median tax bill above $10,000, the highest figure the Census reports. At that value, a small over-appraisal costs real money every year.
The Argyle mailing address covers far more than the town itself. Denton CAD's 2026 roll lists 12,354 single-family homes with an Argyle address, at a median market value of $553,890, and half were built in 2015 or later. Many sit in newer communities outside town limits, with their own water districts and tax rates.
TaxDrop's TDLR-licensed Texas consultants can handle the protest for you, from filing through the Appraisal Review Board hearing. See TaxDrop pricing for current plans.
Your Argyle tax bill is several separate taxes added together. Each taxing unit sets its own 2025 rate per $100 of taxable value (Texas Comptroller, 2025 Tax Rates and Levies):
Argyle address, different district. Inside town limits there's essentially no MUD. But homes with an Argyle mailing address outside town limits can sit in districts like Canyon Falls MUD 1 ($0.75 in 2025) or Canyon Falls WCID 2 ($0.61). Those homes don't pay the town rate, but they pay the district rate. Check the taxing units on your notice.
Homestead exemption: Texas school districts must exempt $140,000 of a homestead's value, plus another $60,000 for owners 65 or older or disabled (Texas Comptroller). On Argyle ISD's rate, the $140,000 exemption cuts about $1,640 a year off the school portion. Homestead appraisal increases are capped at 10% a year, plus new improvements.
All of Argyle is in Denton County, so Denton Central Appraisal District (Denton CAD) appraises your home.

The Census reports Argyle's median tax bill as $10,000 or more on a median $695,300 home (U.S. Census Bureau ACS 2020β2024). The Census doesn't publish an exact figure above $10,000. Your bill depends on your appraised value, exemptions and taxing units.
For 2025, the Town of Argyle rate is $0.3431 per $100. Adding Denton County and the school district gives a combined rate of about 1.61%β1.70% before special districts and exemptions (Texas Comptroller).
Monday, May 17, 2027, because May 15 falls on a Saturday, or 30 days after your appraisal notice was mailed, whichever is later.

Many homes with an Argyle mailing address are outside town limits, in communities with their own water districts. Your notice lists every taxing unit that applies to your home.
Filing a protest carries no penalty. Denton CAD or the ARB decides your value based on the evidence. In 2025, 94.2% of Denton County ARB determinations lowered value.
