Flower Mound homes carry some of the highest values in Denton County. Denton CAD's 2026 roll lists 22,108 single-family homes with a Flower Mound address, at a median market value of $587,994 and $221 per square foot. Most were built before 2000, so condition and dated finishes matter more here than in brand-new subdivisions.
When the appraisal district values your home above what it would sell for, you overpay every year until you protest. Flower Mound owners can challenge their value each spring. The usual deadline is May 15 or 30 days after your notice, whichever is later.
TaxDrop's TDLR-licensed Texas consultants can handle the protest for you, from filing through the Appraisal Review Board hearing. See TaxDrop pricing for current plans.
Your Flower Mound tax bill is several separate taxes added together. Each taxing unit sets its own 2025 rate per $100 of taxable value (Texas Comptroller, 2025 Tax Rates and Levies):
Most of town is in Lewisville ISD, but Argyle, Northwest and Denton ISDs each cover parts of it. Flower Mound has almost no MUD coverage, and voters rejected a proposed public improvement district in May 2024. Check the taxing units on your notice.
Homestead exemption: Texas school districts must exempt $140,000 of a homestead's value, plus another $60,000 for owners 65 or older or disabled (Texas Comptroller). On Lewisville ISD's rate, the $140,000 exemption cuts about $1,560 a year off the school portion. Homestead appraisal increases are capped at 10% a year, plus new improvements.
Almost all of Flower Mound is in Denton County and appraised by Denton Central Appraisal District (Denton CAD). A small area on the south side is in Tarrant County. Your notice names your district.
